MD PIA orders inquiry against first officer
KARACHI (July 30, 2010): The on going illegal go-slow of PALPA continues for the fifth day, PIA spokesman said here on Wednesday. First officer S Jamal was on a scheduled flight duty on PK 787 on Wednesday July 28 from Jinnah International Airport, Karachi to London, Heathrow scheduled to depart at 09.30 am. The departure was rescheduled at 10.30 am due to operational reasons when first officer S Jamal refused to fly the aircraft and left the cockpit.




PALPA terms Air Navigation Order 'illegal, disputed': worst air crash in Pakistan's history
KARACHI (July 30, 2010): Over the ember of one tragedy lurks the shadow of another. This is how Captain Suhail Baluch, President, Pakistan Airline Pilots' Association (PALPA) expressed his fear following the Air Blue Airbus A-321 worst ever crash in Margalla hills on Wednesday and the Air Navigation Order No 91.0012 issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on April 20, 2010.



TDAP holds certificate awarding ceremony
LAHORE (July 29, 2010): Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organised a certificate awarding ceremony at Lahore office for distribution of certificates among the participant of a five days workshop. The objective of the workshop was to train businessmen in this sector about the basics of exports. It was a five days successful feature with over fifty participants who also debated on the Gems and Jewellery promotion.



PBIT holds meeting to discus Pak-German trade relations
LAHORE (July 29, 2010): Chief Operating Officer, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), Fazal Abbas Maken held a meeting with Dr Gregor Schotten, Counsellor of Political & Economic Affairs, Germany, to discuss and explore Pak-German Trade Relations and other matters of mutual interest at PBIT office here on Wednesday.



Bhitshah uplift project Phase-I near completion: CS
HYDERABAD (July 29, 2010): The Chief Secretary Sindh Fazul Rehman has said that Provincial Culture Department, Auqaf Department and Project Director Bhitshah Development Project have been simultaneously engaged with separate assignments of Bhitshah Development and Beautification Works.



Nation Branding in Globalised World moot today in Berlin
BERLIN (July 29, 2010): A 4-day International Conference "Nation Branding in a Globalised World" will open here on Thursday (today), said a press release received here on Wednesday. It has been organised by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) and is being attended by participants from across the world.



Traders refuse to close shops at 8pm in Ramazan
MULTAN (July 29, 2010): Markazi Anjuman Tajiran (MAT), Small Traders Chamber (STC), Pakistan Traders Alliance (PTA) have rejected the closure of bazaars at 8:00 pm during the month of Ramazan and had formally informed the authorities of their decision in this regard.



Government urged to revoke decision of two weekly holidays
KARACHI (July 29, 2010): Industrialists and traders on Wednesday urged the government to revoke its decision of extending the two weekly holidays till October 31. Government has taken this decision to counter the energy crisis prevalent in the country.



Rahat meets Hafeez
ISLAMABAD (July 29, 2010): Rahat Kounain Hassan, newly appointed Chairperson of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) paid a courtesy call on the Federal Minister for Finance, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh here on Wednesday. She remained with the Federal Minister for sometime and discussed professional matters concerning her new assignment.



Pakistan-Asean seminar: slow-paced bilateral 'sectoral dialogue' flayed
KARACHI (July 29, 2010): A snail's paced 'sectoral dialogue' process between Pakistan and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) was lamented, as delegates from the two sides gathered here on Wednesday to discuss ways to make bilateral relations durable.
