President signs Islamabad High Court Bill, 2010ISLAMABAD (July 30, 2010): President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday accorded his assent to Islamabad High Court Bill, 2010, for establishing of a High Court for Islamabad Capital Territory. The assent was accorded during a signing ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Federal Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan, Attorney General for Pakistan former Justice Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq and Secretary Law Division Muhammad Masood Chishti were also present on the occasion.

'Convict shall be liable to forfeiture of property': Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2010 introducedISLAMABAD (July 28, 2010): The Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2010 was introduced in the Senate to remove loopholes from the prevailing laws making them more stringent for curbing violent activities of terrorists with maximum punishment to those found guilty. Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Tuesday introduced "The Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2010" in the Upper House of the Parliament.

Senate passes Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) BillISLAMABAD (May 15, 2010): The Senate on Friday unanimously passed the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2010, which is aimed at amending the Code of Civil Procedure 1908. The bill was moved by leader of the House in Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, which has already been passed by the lower House and it will now go to the President for his assent.

Senate passes IHC Bill 2010 with two amendmentsISLAMABAD (May 14, 2010): The Upper House of the Parliament on Thursday passed Islamabad High Court Bill, 2010 with two minor amendments, which was earlier passed by the National Assembly. The Bill would again go to the Lower House of the Parliament for approval in view of the amendments proposed by the Senate, as the government did not oppose them.

Reducing powers, but not influence: Zardari signs 18th Constitutional Amendment BillISLAMABAD (April 20, 2010): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday signed 'The Constitution (Eighteenth Amendment) Bill, 2010' and now it would make history by becoming part of the Constitution. Both houses of the Parliament (National Assembly and Senate) passed the 18th Amendment Bill, 2010 surpassing two-thirds majority. Now 102 clauses of the amendment will become part of 1973 Constitution.

Unanimous Vote: Senate passes 18th Amendment BillISLAMABAD (April 16, 2010): The Senate on Thursday unanimously passed "The Constitution (Eighteenth Amendment) Bill, 2010, even surpassing the required two-thirds majority (90-member) to remove distortions from the 1973 Constitution. The Upper House of the Parliament also approved renaming of NWFP as Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa by passing Clause-3 of the 18th Amendment Bill with a two-thirds majority. As many as 80 members voted in its favour while 12 opposed it.

18th Amendment: Bill approved by CabinetISLAMABAD (April 07, 2010): The Cabinet on Tuesday unanimously approved the 18th Amendment Constitutional Bill 2010, and decided to set up a committee to oversee, and provide guidance in, framing rules required for implementation of the provisions of the bill. Sources told Business Recorder that probably the shortest ever, 15-minute Cabinet, meeting considered the Constitutional Package only from a 9-point official agenda of the meeting.

Senate passes National School of Public Policy (Amendment) Bill 2010ISLAMABAD (March 31, 2010): The upper house of the parliament on Tuesday passed National School of Public Policy (Amendment) Bill 2010. Advisor to the Prime Minister Nawabzada Ghazanfar Ali Gul moved the bill in Senate, which was passed with majority votes. The Bill is aimed at shifting the headquarters of the National School of Public Policy from Lahore to Islamabad because it was premier training institution of the government.

President signs bill to protect women against harassment at workplaceISLAMABAD (March 10, 2010): President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday signed the 'Protection Against Harassment of Women Bill 2010' with a pledge to pursue the commitment made by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for the emancipation and uplift of women folk.
